Job Accountabilities

About the Position

Reporting to the Sr Engineering Manager, the Sustaining Vision System Engineer will provide daily operations support to sustain and optimize the continued operations of in-line vision systems with respect to safety, yield, quality, productivity and cost.  


Primary responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Sustain and develop all aspects (hardware and software) of in-line quality vision systems.
  • Conceive, drive, and implement metrology accuracy improvements, with respect to decreasing false-negative and false-positive rates.
  • Conceive, qualify and implement new inspection algorithms and hardware upgrades for the purposes of NPI.
  • Maintain centralized sub-versioning (SVN) for all tool’s algorithms and recipe versions.
  • Insure complete process documentation and QS9000 compliance (calibrations, Gage RnR, troubleshooting and operation procedures).
  • Communicate and work with external vision system vendors for the purposes of troubleshooting existing systems, as well as managing installation and upgrade projects for new hardware/software systems.
  • Train and certify maintenance technicians on equipment and software maintenance procedures.
  • Interact with engineers, technicians, and scientists to develop, sustain, and improve process and equipment performance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills:

  •  Minimum 4-year degree / Bachelors in related technical discipline (BS or BA Computer Science or Compute Eng, BSME, BS Physics, etc.) with 3 to 5 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as you will be working in a team environment that is very data-driven.
  • Must have demonstrated problem solving skills, and must be willing to work in a team environment.
  • Direct experience with manufacturing vision systems and/or metrology preferred.
  • Solid skills with programming and algorithm development.  Experience with Python preferred.
  • Solid skills in PC and Windows applications.
  • Skilled in statistical data analysis. SQL proficiency is beneficial
  • Interest and motivation to learn new process steps and branch out to non-vision system related engineering challenges.
  • Must be able to work under time constraints and be flexible in regards to work hours.
  • Must have a "whatever it takes" attitude to get the job done (This may mean working long hours, weekends, nights, etc.)
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must have the ability to work inside a clean room environment and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
