Job Accountabilities

This position supports the Cell manufacturing and engineering team.  Reporting to the Integration & Quality Manager, the Process Integration Technician will initially partner with an existing shift PIT for training and then transfer fulltime to the Front Half Night opening.  The Process Integration Technician will provide direct support while helping to secure and maintain critical department goals and customer requests connected to process health and product quality through sustaining excellence, excursion prevention, and coordination of continuous improvement deliverables. The Process Integration Technician will also provide engineering coverage for any process related needs and will be integrated into the  production team, supporting a Compressed Work Week schedule.

Sustaining Excellence & Excursion Prevention:  Support production needs to achieve yield and output goals consistently.  Tasks include:

  • Provide on-shift process control, production coaching and engineering support for tools throughout the Cell Factory.
  • Disposition material on hold throughout the production line.  This includes deciding to scrap material, hold for further engineering disposition, release material, or request rework.
  • Provide coaching to operators and leads on detection of out of control station monitors and use of the PCS system.
  • Detect, troubleshoot, and react to out of control integrated process monitors.
  • OCAP (out of control action plan): coach operators on the execution of OCAPs.  Propose OCAP improvements as new defects or counter measures are identified.
  • Support operators and leads on the analysis of inline tools; react as needed. 
  • Implement Temporary Deviation Notices as needed.
  • Communicate actively with Process Engineering and elevate help requests as needed.
  • Team up with Process and Integration Engineering to prioritize largest systemic needs to improve floor health.  This includes active participation in the Daily Ops Meeting.
  • Monitor line health with online metrics and escalate as needed

Continuous Improvement: Support improvement initiatives for either quality (yield and efficiency) or cost-effective output beyond the existing baseline.  Tasks include:

  • Perform trial runs (from exploratory to High Volume Manufacturing) in support of new deliverables.  These could include testing new materials, performing firing skews, advanced troubleshooting, and process recipe optimization.
  • Perform analysis of improvement results and document to support next stages or implementation.
  • Secure safe execution of hot-lot processing through the production line.
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements

  • Minimum education of an Associate’s degree in Science, Technology or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.  Additional preference will be given for Solar Manufacturing Emphasis or coursework (or related Microelectronics manufacturing coursework).
  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year related work experience in high-volume manufacturing.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal) as you will be working in a team environment that is very data-driven. In addition, must possess and demonstrate empathic communication skills.
  • Prior operational experience with multiple Cell process steps or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience interacting with engineering in sustaining or continuous improvement projects.
  • Good skills in MS Office suite, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Enjoys challenging interdisciplinary work but also accepts routine jobs as part of the daily job responsibilities.
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables in an often competing environment.
  • Must have the ability to work inside a clean room environment and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts,( Sunday - Tuesday, alternating Wednesday or Thursday - Saturday, every other Wednesday,  6:30 AM to 6:45 PM) while standing for much of the time.
  • Grade level will be dependent on experience.
