    Job Accountabilities

     

    Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Facilities/EHS Manager is responsible for managing the, planning and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities specific to the site. Drives continuous improvement in safety and environment while driving sustainable practices. Ensures effective facilities, EHS and infrastructure support for high-volume 24x7 manufacturing.

     

     

    Essential Functions: 

    • Actively work to reduce workplace safety incidents.
    • Implement preventative and predictive maintenance system for facilities, continuously improving productivity, reliability and costs (including spare parts strategy and management).
    • Actively develop the facilities team through training of employees to build required individual and team capabilities.
    • Develop objectives and targets for the department and its employees based on company goals, and ensure proper execution to meet expected outcomes.
    • Manage employee performance utilizing performance management tools. Ensure that performance standards and goals are effectively aligned with organizational performance metrics.
    • Set factory standards that align with SolarWorld’s philosophy of sustainability. 
    • Plan and manage the annual operating budget for the department, ensuring that proper controls and appropriate improvement plans are in place.
    • Develop and execute continuous improvement activities and projects that are focused on reducing cost and improving reliability.
    • Develop long range plans, conceptual designs, and capital outlay requirements and documentation for facility systems.
    • Formulate and coordinate project specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents.
    • Drive and enforce use of structured problem solving and statistical analysis within the daily work of the group.
    • Monitor and insure compliance with all environmental permits.
    • Actively participate with development and coordination of Emergency Response training, drills, equipment, and plans.

    Job Requirements

     

    The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (i.e., management, business, mechanical engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Must have 5+ years of experience working in a facilities department and leading capital equipment projects.  Strong preference for experience supporting high-volume, high-tech manufacturing.
    • Possess a fundamental understanding of all facility systems that are typical to a high tech manufacturing operation.
    • Must possess project management capabilities with demonstrated prior experience.
    • Must have experience supporting a 24X7 production environment.
    • Must be willing to maintain a flexible schedule to meet business demands and company objectives.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools such as Word, Excel and Power Point as well as ERP systems for reporting.  Additional preference for knowledge and use of project management software and ERP systems. 
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Must demonstrate effective leadership (e.g., people management) skills for managing a function including performance management, career development and coaching of supervisors, engineers and other individual contributor positions.
    • Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives by working in and with cross-functional and multi-cultural teams.  Demonstrated ability to effectively support, work with and through other departments as required to meet company objectives.
    • Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Must be able to work in an office and manufacturing environment
    • Must possess valid passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
