Job Accountabilities


Reporting to the Network & Infrastructure Systems Manager, the Network Systems Administrator is responsible for definition, design and implementation of network communications and solutions. In this position, you will propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manage the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing. Approve action requests and specifies purchase requirement. Negotiate and places orders with common carriers.  Analyze, design, acquire and implement projects for LAN and/or WAN systems. Plan, design, acquire and implement telecommunications voice/wire/SIP systems.


Primary responsibilities for this position include the following:

  • Develops and implements standard processes, policies and procedures.
  • Works with business managers and system users to determine appropriate solution to business challenges.
  • Performs analysis of technical and business requirements, researches, designs and implements data network and telecommunications solutions.
  • Plans for, researches, procures and implements data network and telecommunications solutions at all SolarWorld US locations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a secure network environment.
  • Installs and maintains local area network hardware and software, including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring.
  • Evaluates hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
  • Coordinates installation of hardware and software.
  • Provides support to and trains peers and users.
  • Monitors and maintains system stability, provides business continuity, disaster prevention, and recovery solutions.
  • Gathers and analyzes system performance and cost data and provides regular reports to Information Technology Leaders.
  • Communicates and coordinates operations schedule, backups, and downtime to users.
  • Coordinates with third-parties for telecommunications services.
  • Prepares regular cost summaries and delivers cost reports to Operations Manager.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of experience, knowledge, and skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent education and experience and at least 3 years related work experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, preferably supporting 24x7 manufacturing operations.
  • Cisco advanced switching and routing, wireless protocols, Cisco Callmanager, VOIP, Data cabling standards and specifications, Current Microsoft Operating Systems, Servers and Networking. Networking skills including advanced TCP/IP, Cable Plant, Telecommunications (PBX), SIP, 802.11x, VPN, firewalls and network security.                                        
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent experience is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of PKI and certificate-based authentication.
  • Familiarity in working with IaaS & PaaS cloud provider and 3rd party network services.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as thrive in a fast-paced, open office team environment.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and a collaborative style with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Strong organization skills, detailed and process orientation.
