Job Accountabilities

Responsible for directing and coordinating all equipment maintenance activities for SolarWorld's world-class Solar Cell and Module plants. The position ensures adequate tool and personnel capabilities are continuously developed and maintained for supporting a high volume 24/7 manufacturing operation.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure safe and environmentally sound practices within all areas. Must conform to all safety regulations and or procedures and maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Drives the development and implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance programs, procedures and measurements for all equipment
  • Develop and maintain spare part management system to optimally balance the company's needs.
  • Drive continuous improvements using data and Lean techniques to reduce cost, improve quality and increase equipment OEE
  • Daily coordination with production departments to gather data, complete maintenance projects and support effective training
  • Strong technical and problem solving skills. Drives resolution of issues including determination of Root Causes and identify and verification of Corrective Actions using structured problem solving methodology
  • Able to work through other groups outside of maintenance to accomplish desired results.
  • Actively build the team through hiring, motivating and training employees to build capable departmental functions for the required 24/7 operational support
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the understanding and application of leadership principles and supervisory tools for the efficient management of subordinates
  • Develop objectives and targets for the team and ensure proper execution to meet expected timely outcomes
  • Daily coordination with production departments to gather data, complete maintenance projects and support effective training.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate is a seasoned technology expert with prior leadership role(s) and will possess the following combination of education and experience: 

  • Minimum 4 year degree / Bachelors in related technical discipline (BS EE, BS ME)
  • Must possess a minimum of 10 years of direct process/equipment engineering experience with 5+ years direct leadership experience in a relevant, highly automated, 24x7, high-tech, manufacturing environment
  • CMMS experience is required
  • Experience with people management must include hiring, employee coaching and development, performance management, and progressive discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equipment and manufacturing safety procedures is required (e.g., lock-out / tag-out, electrical / high-voltage, chemical, reading MSDS, incident response procedures)
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, predictive maintenance, 5S and related manufacturing best practices is required
  • Strong analytical skills required. This includes experience with standard quality tools such as DOE, SPC, FMEA, and Process Mapping
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office productivity tools such as Word, Excel and Power Point as well as ERP systems for reporting. Additional preference for knowledge and use of project management software and ERP systems
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Must possess excellent project management capabilities, as this position will be responsible for driving large projects to successful completion according to established timelines
  • Must have the ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Must have the flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Work is performed in an office and a manufacturing environment
  • Must possess valid driver's license, valid passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
