Job Accountabilities

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Operator 1 will:

  • Perform and operate manual, semiautomatic, and automatic equipment in the assembly and testing of Photovoltaic Modules. 
  • Be responsible for compliance to all aspects of the safety behavior and policy.
  • Must have a high degree of focus on quality, housekeeping, and drive towards output to meet or exceed the company's goals.
  • Essential job duties include: Set-up, load / un-load and monitor production equipment holding tolerances to specifications. 

Through (on the job training) will acquire the skills and abilities necessary to:

  • Setup, operate, track performance and adjust production and test equipment.  Shut down as required.
  • Change out equipment consumables as needed.
  • Visually inspect and access overall quality of the process and product, including cell and soldering quality
  • Handle the following materials (but not limited to):  Glass, EVA, Cells, Back sheet, ribbon, flux, framing, and junction box.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Support, communicate and troubleshoot of tool operation problems and equipment repairs.
  • Support inventory counts.
  • Use a pallet jack to transport raw materials, finished products and WIP.
  • Finish, detail and clean modules.
  • Work with various hazardous materials including epoxies, chemicals and volatiles.
  • Responsible for product final quality inspection and control.
  • Apply existing work instructions, process specifications, test specifications, and technical documents.
  • Perform non-complex soldering techniques to SolarWorld standard as required.


Job Requirements

The successful candidate will possess the following combination of education and experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED).
  • Ability to read English and perform mathematical equations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) in all units of measure.
  • Light computer skills and ability to read and enter data as required.
  • Ability to read and interpret data from production software.

Must be able to:

  • Stand or sit for long periods.
  • Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and/or bending.
  • Ability to climb and descend stairs.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels.
  • Use tools that require fine hand skills.
  • Visually, observe and differentiate small moving parts.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to work a 12 hour compressed work week shift, either day or night.
  • May be required to alternate schedules to meet production goals.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment.
  • Attendance is a essential function of this position.

Front Half Day  (FHD) 5:30 am - 5:45 pm

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Wednesday


Back Half Day  (BHD) 5:30 am - 5:45 pm

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and every other Wednesday


Front Half Night  (FHN)  5:30 pm - 5:45 am– Shift differential 13%

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and every other Saturday


Back Half Night  (BHN)  5:30 pm - 5:45 am– Shift differential 13%

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and every other Saturday


Starting Rate:  $13.00 per hour
