    About the Position

    Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Technician IV is responsible to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair building and facilities equipment and systems. including boilers, chillers, HVAC, compressed air, chemical, gas, wastewater, ultra-pure water, fire and life safety systems as well as other assigned equipment.  The Facilities Technician IV functions as the Senior Technician on-shift, helps train other Facilities Technicians and contributes to technical reliability, cost and quality improvements of facilities systems.

    Job Accountabilities

    Primary responsibilities for this position include the following:


    Essential Functions:

    • Perform and train others on all levels of preventive and predictive maintenance on Facilities equipment and systems
    • Analyze, troubleshoot and correct facilities operational issues.
    • Actively participate and contribute to facilities incident/problem investigations, reviews.
    • Perform facilities rounds and accurately complete all operating logs
    • Generate, review and modify PM procedures, Work Instructions, spare part requests, purchase requisitions, Facility Work Orders, etc.
    • Complete facility Work orders unaided
    • Assist with and participate in technical engineering projects and lead maintenance group projects
    • Qualify for ERT membership thru completion of standard training programs; perform as an ERT incident Scene Leader
    • Demonstrate a strong ability to work productively and cooperatively in the Facilities group
    • Successfully complete technical seminars and training classes (internal or external)
    • Participate effectively in cross organization projects and team tasks.

    This position requires an individual who is self-motivated and works well others. The successful candidate will have demonstrated mastery of two or more significant Facility Systems in use at SolarWorld. 


    • Associates degree in a related field or equivalent combination of experience and education preferred. 
    • Minimum of 4 to 6 years related work experience (or combination of education and experience) related to operation of a manufacturing facility.
    • Basic computer skills are required including familiarity with windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Strong desire to bring best practices to the team, share your knowledge and expertise and enable your team members' mutual success as the organization continues to grow.
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
    • Strong knowledge and experience with systems similar to the following:
      • Heating ventilating and air conditioning systems
      • Compressed air systems
      • Process cooling water systems.
      • Electronic, pneumatic, and computer automation control systems
      • Waste neutralization systems
      • Ultrapure water systems
      • Chemical or specialty gas dispense systems
      • Emergency response teams

    Additional Requirements – Must be able to:

    • Position requires being able to move around all areas of the facility including working on ladders and in the sub-fab which requires crawling, bending and stooping.
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.  Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Must be able to work a 12-hour shift while standing for much of the time (SHIFT). May be required to alternate schedules to meet facility requirements.  In addition, must be able to train on any of the shifts, day or night.
    • Use tools that require fine hand skills.
    • Visually, observe and differentiate small moving parts.
    • Must have the ability to frequently lift up to 40 lbs and be physically able to frequently push, pull reach with hands and arms and perform repetitive motions.
    • Climb and descend stairs or step stools.
    • Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels
    • Must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
